The worlds pretty fucked right now isnt it.

At the time i am writing this we are 600+ days into watching Palestines live streamed genocide, the united states is beginning to look a little bit too much lille 1940s germany, neo nazi rallies keep popping up around the country, and we are still hurdling towards climate collapse with no stopping. Yep its all pretty bleak.

But we are not passive vessels just watching the world collapse around us. We can be a part of the change we want to see in the world. So i present to you a quick guide on to how to give a fuck:

Ways to physically show up and give a fuck:

• Show up to a protest

• Volunteer your time and skills

• Join a collective/movement

 

Put your money where your mouth is:

• Donate to causes

• Send some cash to mutual aid funds

• Join boycotting movements

• Choose small businesses run by marginalised folks

 

Stop rotting your brain and use it:

• Educate yourself

• Pester your elected officials

 

Emotional Damage! (or labour):

• Have hard conversations

• Educate someone around you

• Unpack your unconscious bias

 

Digititise your fucks:

• Repost and reshare

• Elevate marginalised voices.

• Fight back in online spaces, I know it feels like it’s a drop in the ocean, but you don’t know who might see it and how it might help them

• Don’t stop screaming about the things that matter.

 

Give a fuck about yourself:

• Don’t give up

• Take a break from the endless horrors and touch some fucking grass

• Remember we are a choir, and when we all sing together, the song keeps going even if you need to take a breath.

 

But above all, don’t give up. I know it all feels awful and overwhelming and too much. But their is so much beauty and joy in this world which is worth fighting for. Dont let the bullshit take away your fight spirit.

Together, we are strong and powerful and can make this world a better, fairer, more just place.  For everyone.
